This Privacy Policy details how we deal with your personal information and applies to the collection, storage, use and dissemination of your personal information. It has been developed in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act).
Analytics for Schools collects data (Data) from schools and its students, teachers, and parents (together, the Customers, you, your) through its Learning Analytics Platform (Program), which we use to collate, analyse and subsequently express the Data contained within it for Customers (Services), and which is then subsequently accessed by the Customers.
By providing your personal information to Analytics for Schools for use within the Program, and/or by accessing our website situate at www.analyticsforschools.com.au (Website) or otherwise transacting with us, you accept the terms of this Privacy Policy and as otherwise permitted under the Privacy Act.
This Privacy Policy applies to information provided to us whether via the Website, the Program, the NAPLAN website or by any other means. We will only use personal information for the purposes for which it was given to us, or for purposes which are directly related to the provision of our Services. We may collect and store your personal information for the purpose of contacting you, responding to enquiries, or administrating your access to the Program, as described below.
1. What kinds of information do we collect?
Information about you
Analytics for Schools collects information provided by you including through the Program. We will endeavour to collect this information directly from you or from the Website, unless it is otherwise impractical or unreasonable to do so.
We collect a range of personal information relevant to our advised purposes. The type of information that we collect from you in the provision of our Services or through your access to the Website may include identification information, including Customer first and last names, student identification numbers, student outcome data (such as NAPLAN, PAT, Ondemand scores), student photos, student survey responses, student and school demographic information, school address, school employee details including job titles, school contact information, school email address, school postcode, school preferences, and any other personal information that the Customer may submit to the Website or through the Program.
The type of information that we collect from you via the Program or the Website may include information relating to third parties, in which case you warrant that you have obtained the consent of third parties to provide that information to us. In the case of information about minors, you warrant that you have the consent of their parent or guardian to provide that information.
2. How do we collect information?
The main ways we collect personal information about you are when:
- you access the Website;
- you provide information directly to us via the Program through Learning management systems or otherwise;
- by providing us with the relevant log-in credentials to access school data on various data platforms on behalf of schools;
- the Program is running on your phone, computer, computer software application, or other device (Device);
- you provide personal information through the Program or the Website;
- you otherwise submit personal information about yourself, or someone else, through the Program or the Website.
At or before the time the Data is collected, we will issue affected Customers a collection notice which provides information as to why their information is being collected and what it will be used for.
We will not collect sensitive information from you unless:
- you have given express consent for us to do so and the information is reasonably necessary for us to carry out our functions or activities, for example where you provide us with information regarding your health in order for us to respond to a query made by you in respect of our Services; or
- the use of information is otherwise permitted under the Privacy Act.
If someone other than you provides us with personal information about you that we did not ask for, or you provide us with unsolicited personal information, we will only hold, use or disclose this information if we determine that we could have collected this information from you had we asked for it, and we will take all reasonable steps to notify you of the collection of that information as soon as practicable. If we could not have collected this personal information, we will lawfully de-identify or destroy the personal information.
3. Use of Personal Information
Your personal information may be used by us in a number of ways, including the following:
- to provide the Services;
- to understand your needs and provide you with better quality Services;
